Food,  Out and About

The Purple Bear

We recently visited Purple Bear in Newcastle (formerly Northumbrian Arms).  I got a Living Social voucher for my birthday so we went one Friday for breakfast. The place is very welcoming and upbeat. The decor is modern with quirky features.

It was rather quiet when we were there which was a shame. I had pancakes, maple syrup and bacon, it’s a favourite of mine, and my husband had the full English, it’s a favourite of his.

The food was tasty and well presented. The waiter was the appropriate amount of attentive.

The menu has some great food combinations and a ‘What’s Occurring’ section.

They also have a good range of cocktails. We sampled the Mimosa – very good.

We will visit again maybe for a late lunch when hopefully there will be a little more atmosphere.

I do hope this place goes from strength to strength it deserves it. So whether you just want to meet friends for early evening cocktails, call in whilst shopping for breakfast or lunch or both, give it a try and decide for yourselves.
